General Information

At Memorial Presbyterian Church we gather on Sunday mornings for worship to joyfully praise and honor God.  These times of worship take many forms, all of which center upon, and have their roots in God’s Word.  Whether it be times of sharing, times of prayer, times of singing, times of listening, special times with our children, or times of silence we affirm God’s presence, Christ’s redemption, and the Holy Spirit’s grace.

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated during worship on the first Sunday of each month, and at other times as designated by the Session.  The Sacrament of Baptism is administered during worship by arrangement with the pastor and the approval of the Session.

We encourage those who have worshiped with us to take the love, forgiveness and grace they have heard about and experienced with them into the world, and into all of their relationships, in that way sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom with others, and expanding the Kingdom beyond the doors of the church.

For first time visitors we have a special gift basket which contains some fun things, and some helpful information about Memorial Presbyterian Church, its mission, and its ministries.  Come on in!  We’d love to have you spend a Sunday morning with us!

Baptism:

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated publicly during Worship Service unless there are compelling reasons of health or other disability.

Wedding Information

In Baptism, each Christian is claimed in the covenant of God’s faithful love. Marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family. Marriage involves a unique commitment between two people, traditionally a man and a woman, to love and support each other for the rest of their lives. The sacrificial love that unites the couple sustains them as faithful and responsible members of the church and the wider community. In civil law, marriage is a contract that recognizes the rights and obligations of the married couple in society. In the Reformed tradition, marriage is also a covenant in which God has an active part, and which the community of faith publicly witnesses and acknowledges.

At Memorial Presbyterian Church we understand marriage to be a three-way relationship, a three-way covenant, in which God is present in all aspects of the lives of the couple being joined as husband and wife.  We believe God is present in all of our relationships, and it is God who gives a couple not only the desire, but the ability to keep the sacred vows they make to one another, above all others.

Worship services of Christian marriage take place in the sanctuary under the direction of the minister and the supervision of the Session.  Requests for such services must be made well in advance (at least six months).  Couples must make themselves available for a program of premarital counseling with the minister before the Session will be asked to approve the use of the sanctuary and the date.
